HOT 26+

A 90-minute, 26-posture series practised in a heated room with high humidity. This is beginners’ yoga but is suitable for advanced practitioners alike.

It focuses on healing the body, cultivating strength, flexibility and balance and serves as an excellent complement to Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow yoga.

Sally Flanagan

Sally studied Dramatic Art at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and went on to discover Yoga Intense (HOT) when she was travelling in the United States in 1998. She received her Yoga Intense (HOT) Teacher Training certification in Los Angeles, CA, July of 1999 where she studied under Bikram. She was the 1st person from Johannesburg, South Africa to attend the Yoga Intense (HOT) teacher training.

She founded Yoga Experience in June of 2003 with then business partner Louise Boraine. In 2006, Sally became the sole owner of Yoga Experience. Over the past 5 years, Sally has inspired 14 men & woman to attend the training. Johannesburg now hosts 3 Yoga Intense (HOT) studios: Yoga Experience, Fourways and Randburg.

While living in Los Angeles, CA, Sally trained in various other yoga disciplines namely Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, Tri-Yoga and power yoga. She has attended classes and workshops with Shiva Rae, Brian Kest, Seann Corn, Ana Forrest, Kali Ray, Gurmukh among others. Sally practices Transcendental & other forms of Meditation.

In 2006, Neil tried out yoga with a friend. In his first class, he sweated, went to hell and back and afterwards was glowing with happiness. He was hooked. He fulfilled his dream by going to the Bikram Yoga Teacher training in Waikiki, Hawaii where not only did he train with Bikram but he also swam in the ocean where many of his surfing heroes swam. His Yoga journey has led him to train with world-renowned teachers Sean Corn, Ana Forrest, Shiva Rae, Gurmukh, Michael Gannon, John Schumaker and the Jivamukti duo. But no one compares to Bikram.

He is an inspiration par excellence, says Neil. Neil practices all styles of yoga but Yoga Intense (HOT) is his language. He loves the fact that Yoga Intense (HOT) is free from new-age pretences and is a practice that is all about working hard to heal oneself. Neil is an artist (painting and drawing) and a holistic health counsellor. He assists people in finding their own healing through nutritional guidance and connecting with their real selves.

I think I’ve always been a teacher at heart. Having danced throughout most of my youth, I always thought I would become a ballet teacher but when my dancing career came to an end, I felt like I had missed my calling.

I started my yoga journey in 2000. I remember doing yoga for the first time and feeling like I was finally getting back into my body. This is when my calling to teach was reignited and I started my first teacher training in the Iyengar method in 2001.

In 2003 I found Yoga Intense (HOT) and I haven’t looked back since. Why? Because I love this yoga and I have personally experienced the incredible healing and therapeutic benefits within my own life. I truly believe in this system of yoga and that is why I yearn to teach it and to share this gift with others. In 2006 I went on to do my teacher training with Bikram in LA.

Having immersed myself in the Yoga Intense (HOT) world, falling in love with this practice over and over, I stumbled upon the Advanced Series, which is the greater lineage that the Yoga Intense (HOT) sequence was born from. Once again I felt the magic of this practice in my body, I felt how it worked for me, cultivating space, exploration and evolution and so finally I went on to become the first South African to attend a teacher training with Esak Garcia to teach the Intermediate and Advanced 84 asana. What a true blessing it was and is to be able to continue to explore this practice in my body. Although we repeat the same postures constantly in this lineage, it never becomes stale or boring. There is always something further to explore… A pattern, behaviour or limiting belief system that you can begin to dissolve, a mindset that you can change, an old injury that you can heal, or a physical weakness that you become aware of.

I teach from what I know to be true and I teach this yoga because it works! I have felt this in the very fabric and fibre of my being and share this with my students. A moment of mindfulness, a single breath, a wave of emotion, a push past the limits of your mind. I continue to explore this practice for myself, and share what I learn in every class I teach.

I essentially do not know life without yoga. I found myself in my first yoga class aged 6 and ever since then it has been an integral part of my life. Following the natural ebb and flow of life, there were periods where I felt myself more immersed in my practice than ever and times where my time on my mat was more sparse and spread out.

Every time finding myself back on my mat when life willed me there most.

I went on to practice Yoga Intense (HOT) at age 9 and a half and found Jivamukti, Vinyasa and Forrest yoga in my early teenage years. When it was time to go on and study something so I could forge my path forward, it seemed more apt than ever that I go study yoga. A process which only brought me even closer to myself, that expanded my growth and awareness exponentially. I started off with my 200hr Vinyasa Teacher Training, then went on to Yin only to find myself at my Yoga Intense (HOT) Teacher Training – which had been a dream of mine since I was 12!

Yoga carried me through most of my greatest hardships, it cultivated a beautiful intimate relationship with myself where I have become truly comfortable facing myself and holding myself in love and tenderness. It has created a deep awareness of how I operate within my external experience of the world and also of my internal reactions to those.

Yoga has taught me so much and continues to do so every day that I am alive. It is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received and wish only to be the conduit that shares this beautiful gift with the world.

Former ballet dancer with the Royal Ballet, her love affair with yoga started about 12 years ago.

It was Yoga Intense (HOT) that offered her the greatest opportunity for transformation, it quickly became her passion because of its physical intensity, as well as its ability to heal and strengthen. This dynamic series of postures brought health and balance to her life.

Inspired to share this platform for healing and self-discovery with others, she graduated from Sally Flanagan-Gutjahr’s Yoga Intense, Hot Yoga Teacher Training in June 2018.

Using her experiences and dedication to ballet, creative dance and yoga, she brings passion, intuition and authenticity to her yoga teaching.

She believes in order to be a responsible teacher, she must continue to be a humble student – always learning, growing and sharing her knowledge of this practice from countless numbers of teachers who have come before her.

Nadia is married and a mother of three children, together with her family, she enjoys cooking vegan food, travelling, hiking and meeting new people.

I am so excited to be teaching at the Yoga Experience again! I started my Yoga practice in 2004 while living in London. I moved to New York a year later and started working and practising at Bikram Yoga Manhattan. In 2009 I attended The Bikram Yoga School of India Teacher Training in California. In 2011 I specialised in Pregnancy Yoga opening my own studio, Oven Bun Yoga in Parkhurst.

After the birth of my son in 2014, I took a break from teaching to focus on a new kind of Yoga – being a MUM!

While spending quality time with my little one I got very involved with Doterra Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. As a wellness advocate for Doterra, I have started teaching and sharing this passion through classes and one-on-one consultations, too. My love of moving the body and understanding that it is designed to heal itself when it gets what it needs creates the vitality in my own life and the excitement and commitment to sharing follows. Now that my son is older, I have the time available to get back to my first love, teaching and sharing Yoga and Oils with you.

Hot Yoga transformed my life on a whole other quantum level! From the inside out, as they say, bones to skin.

I started my yoga journey in 2006 and with each year of practice, my muscles got stronger, my mind clearer and my heart more open. Teaching this style of yoga was my natural next step and I can’t wait to see as many of you in class as possible.

What an absolute exiting journey life is. I am so excited to teach Bikram Yoga at Yoga experience. It is dear to my heart because this is where I first fell in love with the practice. I have had an amazing healing journey so far and it continues every day. I broke my Coccyx in 2015 and had major pain there especially in the winter, a few months of practising Bikram Yoga my back healed completely and I have no more pain. I also had bad knees from running with incorrect posture long distance for years. Amazingly through repetition of practising Bikram, my knees healed completely.

And that just proves the old Alchemical precept to be true: “Through repetition the magic is forced to arise.”

I always had a huge fascination with the human body. I am a firm believer in Good Nutrition, where another one of my passions lies. I love the Support of Herbalife Nutrition that helps me fuel my body with the nutrients it needs on a daily basis. I love good nutritious food and love helping others to get results.

For me, yoga is about the connection between your mind, body and soul. As a fitness enthusiast, I always thought yoga would be easy, I was surprised after my first class how mislead I was. I was also surprised by the sense of calmness and clarity I experienced during and after the class.

For years, on and off, yoga has been a part of my life and when the Hot 26+ teacher training with Sally Gutjahr (a legend in Bikram Yoga in South Africa) arose in 2019 I felt this was my calling. After having 2 children I rediscovered the practice and impulsively immersed myself into the training and it was as if I was home again.

Yoga offers a release from everyday obstacles in my life and my body and as a teacher, I aim to help others find this sense of release and freedom within their practice.

I will always be a student and am very grateful for the love and guidance my teachers have shared with me. This yoga is now a part of me – fingers to toes, bones to skin and inside out.

I completed my Bikram Yoga Teacher Training with Sally Flanagan-Gutjhar owner, founder, and my mentor @Yoga Experience. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers and mentors have shared with me.

I am inspired by the creative spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help others deepen their practice. I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing the body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that I can inspire others to step off their mats feeling refreshed, nourished, balanced and in harmony with their body.
